A message from Head Coach Bill O'Connell
As we head into my fourth year as Head Coach of the Sandwich High School Football team, I am extremely excited about the 2017 season. This season, we expect to see a big step forward. The kids have a great understanding of our systems and expectations, and we are off to a great start in 2017 with victories in two of our first three games. Our kids gave tremendous effort last season and that same effort with a year of experience will take us a long way in 2017!
My staff and I are dedicated to each and every player in our program and we know our student athletes will represent our community in a positive manner. We have a number of seniors who will provide the leadership we need, as well as some talented underclassmen who are eager to show their stuff at the varsity level. In addition to all the work these young men do between the lines, they also have been tremendous in the community, working on the SHS Stand Against Violence, Captain Gerald F. DeConto 5K Memorial Scholarship, and working with the younger football players in town. This is really a great group of young men!
2017 is guaranteed to be an exciting season as we continue to build the Blue Knight football program into a tradition of excellence!
How you can help the Blue Knights Football team
Establishing a new set of standards for the Sandwich Football teams requires commitment, hard work, and resources. We will provide our players with the best experience possible, from camps and 7 on 7's in the summer, through the State Playoffs. The majority of our program’s funding continues to be generated from the players, their parents, and the support and generosity of Sandwich Blue Knight football supporters from all over. The supporting cast is absolutely crucial to the success of this program. We hope that this fundraiser will help sustain the tradition of Sandwich Football and give our student-athletes the best possible experience while playing for the Blue Knights.
As our athletes are working hard this season on the field and in the classroom, we respectfully request your financial assistance as we continue our efforts to provide a high caliber program and facilities for our young men. The contributions we receive will allow us to cover items such as player apparel, our year end banquet, and other expenses we may incur this season. Most important of all, your generous donation will provide our players and coaches with the support needed to develop strong, disciplined young men of character, integrity, and pride.
