A message from Head Coach Monty Fritts
As we head into my second year as Head Coach of the Mount Vernon High School Football team, I am extremely excited about the 2017 season. This season, we expect to see a big step forward. The kids understand what the coaching staff is looking for, and the coaches have a better feel for the talents of our players. Even with each of us getting to know each other last season, we were able to finish 2016 with a strong 5-6 record and Mount Vernon's first ever spot in the Class 6A State Playoffs. The 5 wins in 2016 matched the prior three year's victory total combined, and along the way, the team broke 16 school records! So improvements on those results will take us a long way in 2017!
My staff and I are dedicated to each and every player in our program and we know our student athletes will represent our community in a positive manner. We have a number of seniors who will provide the leadership we need, as well as some talented underclassmen who are eager to show their stuff at the varsity level. I would like to personally invite all of our Major supporters to join us this season in support of our student athletes. As a group, our athletes will continue to pursue excellence, both in the classroom, and on the field.
2017 is guaranteed to be an exciting season as we continue to build on the tradition of excellence within the Major program!
How You Can Help The Majors Football Team
Continuing to pursue the high standards set by previous Mount Vernon Football teams requires commitment, hard work, and resources. We attempt to provide our players with the best experience possible, from camps and 7 on 7's in the summer, through the State Playoffs. The majority of our program’s funding continues to be generated from the players, their parents, and the support and generosity of Mount Vernon football supporters from all over. The supporting cast is absolutely crucial to the success of this program. We hope that this fundraiser will help sustain the tradition of Mount Vernon Football and give our student-athletes the best possible experience while playing for the Majors.
As our athletes are working hard this off-season in the weight room and classroom preparing for the season, we respectfully request your financial assistance as we continue our efforts to provide a championship caliber program and facilities for our young men. Additionally, the contributions we receive will allow us to cover the cost such as player camp apparel for our student-athletes, replacement uniforms, updated equipment for the players and on the field, and other general season expenses we will incur. Most important of all, your generous donation will provide our players and coaches with the support needed to develop strong, disciplined young men of character, integrity, and pride.
