A message from Head Coach Mark James
Winning. Everybody wants to do it, but it takes drive, practice, persistence and maximum effort. The Virginia Union Football team isn't afraid to put in the hours it takes to continue to build a winning tradition. We've laid a foundation for continued success through our accomplishments over the past few years. As we start my third season at Virginia Union, we are set to make another step forward. In year one, we finished with a 7-3 record. In year two, we ended 8-3, making the Division II playoffs for the first time in 24 years. 2016 is ready for some playoff victories!!
The Panther Football program takes great pride in winning. Our goal is to continue to uphold the high standard set by our past teams, both on and off the field. We have a great senior class this year that will provide the leadership we need for success, and our talented underclassmen will create the competition we need to make every player better. Competing in the highly competitive CIAA Conference will have its challenges, but our record of success demonstrates the team's drive and determination to achieve measurable success. And in case you think these guys do nothing but football, our team GPA is currently a 2.8, and our players participate in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Career Days at the local elementary schools. It is quite a group of young men we work with!

How you can help the Panthers Football team
The accomplishments we have made over the years as players, coaches, and an organization take hard work, effort and resources. We attempt to provide our athletes with the best experience possible, from the uniforms we wear, to the training methods and equipment we use, and the facilities we perform on. Unfortunately, as a Division II program, our team's budget does not compete with the Power 5 conferences in Division I, and we are not always able meet all of our goals financially.
As our players are working hard in the weight room, in team meetings, and the classroom to be the best they can be, we respectfully request your financial assistance as we continue our efforts to providing our young men with championship facilities and equipment. We have some specific needs:
• Protein for the weight room – For the kids to become bigger, faster and stronger.
• Panther Gear- We want our kids to wear Virginia Union University gear around campus. We want to make sure that everywhere they are going that they are branding our university.
• Football equipment – footballs, bags, paint for the practice field, cones.
• Hosting a banquet for the Football Team in December.
Most important of all, your generous donation will provide our players and coaches with the support they need to develop these athletes into young men with character, integrity, and pride.

A Message From Julio Vargas
Are you ready for some football? I am! I am also very excited to be part of the 2016 Virginia Union Panther Football team. Our team is working really hard this off-season and this year’s team is working a Division II National Championship!
One of our first challenges, off the field, is to raise enough money to maintain the activities of the football program. Our coach has challenged each of us to raise at least $300 -- but more would be even better! If you would be willing to help me out with a donation I would really appreciate it.
