A message from Head Coach Marty Richards

MAKING IT HAPPEN!

As the Head Coach of the Mt. Mansfield Union High School Football Team, I am extremely excited about this upcoming season. We take great pride in our program and our goal is to continue to uphold the standard of excellence we expect on and off the field. As coaches, we ask a lot from our players and hold them to high standards in the classroom, on the football field, and in the community. Our program is looking forward to the 2014 season and all of the challenges that will come along with it. The foundation has been laid for consistent success and we fully expect to establish a winning legacy this year.

Our program started in 2002 as a JV club team and then in 2004 the school board elevated the program to varsity status. We started in Division 4 (the lowest Division in the state) and as a result of our success, have been elevated to Division 1. While the team was in D3 and D2, we made the play-offs 5 straight seasons and played in the State Finals 3 times. Former Cougar, Brian Wilcox just completed his senior season playing middle linebacker at Southern Connecticut University and Ethan Blum recently completed his senior year playing for the University of Vermont's club football team. We currently have three players that are being recruited to play at the collegiate level.

I would like to personally invite all of our Cougar supporters to join us this season in support of our student athletes.

How you can help the Mt. Mansfield Union Cougars

Continuing to pursue the high standards that we have set for the Mt. Mansfield Union Football program requires commitment, hard work, and resources. We attempt to provide our players with the best football experience possible, from summer workouts and camps to providing them with the training and equipment they need to be successful during the football season. Much of our program’s funding continues to be generated from the players, their parents, and the support and generosity of the Mt. Mansfield Union football supporters from all over. The supporting cast is absolutely crucial to the success of this program. We hope that this fundraiser will help sustain the tradition of Cougar football and give our student-athletes the best possible experience while playing for Mt. Mansfield Union High School.

As our players continue to work hard in the classroom and on the field this offseason, we respectfully request your financial assistance as we continue our efforts to provide our student-athletes championship resources and equipment. The contributions we receive will help us to cover the cost of the season, including replacement uniforms, upgraded equipment and player gear the boys need during the season.

Thank you in advance for your support!

A Message From Dylan

Are you ready for some football? I am! I am also very excited to be part of the 2014 Mt. Mansfield Union Cougars Football team. Our team is working really hard this season, hoping to make a long playoff run.

One of our first challenges, off the field, is to raise enough money to maintain the activities of the Football program. Our coach has challenged each of us to raise at least $400 -- but more would be even better! If you would be willing to help me out with a donation I would really appreciate it.

Thanks again and I hope you can come to see me and our team play this fall!
